The hike up to Ngu Lam Peak is no joke! It gets super sweaty and steep at the end, but the 360-degree view of the bay from the top is absolutely unreal. Our guide, Minh, was a legend, always making sure the slower folks in our group were doing okay. Definitely bring lots of bug spray for the forest.

I really appreciated the logistics of this trip. Getting picked up directly from the Hanoi Old Quarter made the morning stress-free. The absolute best part was the speedboat ride back to Tuan Chau. After a long day of hiking, zipping across the water at sunset instead of waiting for a crowded, slow ferry was the perfect way to end it.

Solid day trip if you want to be active. Trung Trang cave was way bigger than I expected and our guide had some cool stories about its history. The lunch was served family-style at a local spot and had some amazing fried spring rolls and fresh fish. Docking half a star just because the morning ferry ride over to the island took a bit longer than scheduled due to traffic.

We used this tour as a fun way to get to Cat Ba Island for a few days, and it worked out perfectly. We did the whole tour with our backpacks stored safely on the bus, and then just skipped the speedboat ride back. It is a great value considering you get a transfer, a solid lunch, and a guided hike all rolled into one.

My calves are definitely feeling it today! The Kim Giao forest trail is beautiful but be prepared to sweat through your shirt. The temple stop at the end was peaceful and a nice cool-down before the fast boat ride back. Everything ran on time and communication via WhatsApp the day before was super clear.

FAQs

The Kim Giao forest trail involves steep, uneven stone steps and a vertical climb near the top. If you have knee problems, we highly recommend skipping the peak. You can relax at the base or enjoy the much easier, flat walk through Trung Trang Cave instead.
Yes, you can bring your luggage on the bus. However, if you plan to take the speedboat back to Ha Long instead of staying on the island, space is very limited. In that case, a backpack or small carry-on is heavily preferred. Please notify us of your luggage size when booking.
Yes, being in a coastal area, our local set menu typically features fresh seafood alongside meat and vegetables. If you have seafood allergies, are vegan, or have any dietary restrictions, please inform us during checkout. We will gladly prepare separate dishes like tofu, chicken, or extra stir-fried greens for you.
The speedboat ride is fast but generally very smooth because it stays within the calm waters of the bay. The trip only takes about 15-20 minutes. If you are highly prone to seasickness, we suggest taking medication beforehand and sitting near the back of the boat where it is most stable.
